A Little About Myself...
Hi Everyone and welcome to the MLynnsDesigns, I’m Merrie Hillsberry. I have worked in the cosmetology field for 32 years. Wow how time flies!
I knew from a young age I wanted to be in the cosmetology field, even as a child I enjoyed playing with hair and makeup, jewelry. Fashion in general!
Beauty is perfect in its imperfections, so you just have to go with the imperfections. The cosmetology field can be very rewarding and at the same time a very stressful place to work, it can also be a very toxic place to work, anyone that’s worked in the field will understand and relate to where I’m coming from.
Anyway –
For the past 17 years I have also been my wonderful mother’s caretaker. And yes I’ve enjoy almost every moment of it. To make extra money I became a Jeweler for Premier Designs, I decided to stay with it because I’ve always enjoyed being my own boss and socializing with clients while still having fun. But I found I needed more control over what I carry and so MLynnsDesigns was created.
Curated with care
We live in an era of globalization and the era of the entrepreneurs. But never in the history of the world have women been more in control of their destiny. I don’t try to be in fashion; I don’t try to follow trends. Trends change hence why they are trends.
You just end up out of fashion that way. Success isn’t about the end result, it’s about what you learn along the way. The important thing is to take your time, do it right and not get stressed. Fashion is not something that exists in clothing only.
Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening. Sometimes incompetence is useful. It helps you keep an open mind. Over the years I have learned that what is important in a dress is the woman who is wearing it. Age and size are only numbers. It’s the attitude you bring to clothes that make the difference. But whatever the fashion it’s made to become unfashionable, until it rolls back around and becomes a trend again.
That same attitude goes with everything related to fashion in general.
It’s funny in a way, but it’s the awkwardness that’s nice, awkwardness gives me great comfort. I’ve never been cool, but I’ve felt cool. I’ve been in the cool places, but I wasn’t really cool.
The simple fact is, you cannot be creative with people around you all day. Everyone has their two cents. So taking a drive and clearing one’s mind can definitely help put things in perspective and the views ignite the creative instincts of the imagination.
